I INSIST YOU DESIST!

I have had enough. This brutalisation has to be brooked. This kind of carnage cannot continue. Why do we commit, collude, conspire and then condone the crucifixion of the English language? Before anyone of you accuses me of cosying up to our erstwhile masters – brutal and marauding they may have been – let me point out that you would not be reading and comprehending this if it had not been for them.

Let me start with the word “lesser”.
Best Answer: Yes, “lesser” is a word, but not as you have used it. You are using it as an adverb and lesser is, in fact, a noun or an adjective.

“But I have known this for long”, your rejoinder. How long? A foot, a yard, or maybe a mile?

Then “comprise”. We keep writing that something comprises of. Comprise means “made up of”, so the word “of” is superfluous. Composed of, yes, comprise, yes.

“The Government would open the new road in six months”. “Would” is conditional. You mean will (in future). Your guides are Simon and Garfunkel and their song El Condor Pasa. “I’d rather be a sparrow than a snail. Yes I would, if I could”. Do not substitute would for will.

And it is HAL Airport Road, one of the best-equipped control towers in terms of avionics and electronics in South Asia. It is not Old Airport Road. There is nothing OLD about it!

Closer to Home: It is Kundalahalli NOT Kundanahalli. Kundanahalli does not exist.
